Exeter Medical’s dermatology team, led by Dr Tony Downs FRCP, Consultant Dermatologist, will be marking ‘Sun Awareness Week’ with our annual charity mole check event to assess any suspicious moles or lumps and bumps.
This year’s mole check will take place on Saturday 26th May 2018 from 10:00am until 4:00pm at Exeter Medical’s offices at Admiral House, Exeter Business Park, Exeter EX1 3QF (conveniently located off Junction 29 of the M5).
Everyone is welcome to attend and our dermatology team will assess you on the day in exchange for a minimum donation of £10 to Cancer Research (all proceeds will go directly to Cancer Research UK).
Dr Tony Downs FRCP, Consultant Dermatologist at Exeter Medical added:
“Melanoma is the fifth most common cancer overall in the UK and it is hoped the mole check will help to reassure some and offer support and advice to others. Regularly checking your skin can lead to an early diagnosis and increase your chances of successful treatment. Exeter Medical are proud to support such a worthwhile cause as Cancer Research UK and hope you will be able to join us.”
Last year some 130 patients were seen along with members of Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue’s Exeter based firefighters who also had their moles checked by Dr Downs and his team.
Several patients were referred for onward assessment and removal of suspicious pigmented and non-pigmented lesions. (Everyone needing to access treatment will quickly receive the necessary advice and support either from their GP or Exeter Medical).
