Make a change to your skin
Causes of skin ageing
As you get older your skin’s processes become less effective, which is when it begins to show visible signs of ageing. It produces less elastin and collagen, which keeps your skin smooth and firm, while skin cell renewal also begins to slow down. As these natural rejuvenating processes become less effective your skin’s healthy cells and proteins become susceptible to lasting damage. This can result in your skin tone becoming less vibrant and the forming of fine lines and wrinkles.
The natural anti-oxidants in your skin are also significantly reduced, leaving your skin vulnerable to photo-damage, which is caused by exposure to the harmful UV rays in daylight. This damage can trigger the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are harmful to the healthy cells and protein in the skin and, coupled with UV, can also stimulate an over production of melanin which can cause age spots. Further exposure to UV rays, and unhealthy activities such as smoking, only accelerate your skin’s natural decline.

How G&T Peels work
Exfoliating peels are a great way to jump-start your skin’s natural processes to help regenerate it, revealing younger, fresher skin cells. They can also help to tackle problems with pigmentation and spot prone skin.
G&T Peels use a clinically proven novel combination of glycolic acid and taurine. Glycolic acid is one of the most effective clinically proven peels available, increasing exfoliation to leave skin softer, with a more youthful appearance. But there’s so much more to glycolic acid, it enhances your skin in more ways than you might think:
- Exfoliation – the bonds between older skin cells are broken down, allowing them to fall away.
- Hydration – your skin’s natural moisturising processes are reinvigorated so that your skin becomes more hydrated.
- Stimulation – the peel stimulates your skin, encouraging the creation of new, fresh skin cells.
- Firming – the peel increases the density of collagen and elastin within your skin (the fibres that make skin appear firmer) helping to improve the elasticity of your skin.
All the while, taurine helps to soothe your skin and reduce any redness or irritation. It really is the perfect combination for a highly effective, but kind, peel.
This outstanding duo also work hard at addressing specific skin concerns like pigmentation and spot prone skin:
- Exfoliating cells that contain melanin (melanin darkens the skin’s tone).
- Clearing and closing pores, plus reducing the appearance of spots.
Following your skin consultation with our practitioner we will advise on the best course of bespoke treatment.
G&T Peels can also be combined with our Harmony ClearLift laser treatment for the ultimate skin rejuvenation. Our aesthetic nurse practitioner will create a bespoke skincare package for you.
G&T Peels are offered in a course of in-clinic peels, which typically increase in intensity, with a home-use programme to help prepare your skin and enhance the results. You’ll start to use this programme a week or two before your first in-clinic treatment, and throughout your course.
Each in-clinic peel will take approximately 20 minutes. It’s not uncommon to feel some discomfort as the peel gets to work, but it’s only a few minutes before the peel is neutralised, immediately soothing your skin. Following the treatment your skin may be a little red, but this will soon subside. In the days following your treatment your skin will feel dryer and begin to exfoliate, getting rid of all those old skin cells to reveal fresh, soft skin.
You’ll be provided with a G&T Peel home-use skincare programme that features a lower strength, home-use glycolic acid and taurine peel gel, as well as carefully selected, clinically proven products to help enhance the regeneration and care of your skin. Your practitioner will advise which programme is best for your skin and provide the programme as part of your treatment.
During your treatment course and on an on going basis it’s really important to use Heliocare® every morning. This provides broad spectrum UVA|UVB protection for your skin as well as a whole host of anti-oxidants and DNA repair enzymes to further protect your skin.
