Meet Jane Benson, Theatre Manager

Jane Benson holds the post of Theatre Manager at Exeter Medical after seventeen years spent in the theatre at the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital; latterly as a Matron in the Plastic and Reconstruction theatre.

Jane brings with her experience of both private and independent sector nursing. She assumes overall responsibility for the Theatre Suite at Exeter Medical co-ordinating everything from liposuction to face lifts, carpel tunnel release, eye surgery, vascular varicose vein surgery, vasectomies, open hernia repair, labiaplasty and all other general and dermatological surgical activity

Jane reports: Many clients visiting Admiral House don’t realise we offer so many treatments or have three theatres on site. At Exeter Medical we are lucky to offer a great working environment and state-of-the-art facilities. There is a great team spirit as well and working with such friendly colleagues makes my role even more enjoyable. However, I would say the most enjoyable part of my role is supporting clients who are often very nervous prior to surgery and then seeing the end result once their surgery has been completed successfully and ensuring all their needs have been met

In addition to customer satisfaction, being a Theatre Manager requires Jane to maintain a safe working environment for staff and patients by updating risk assessments, policies, services contracts, COSHH, procurement and managing a team of Theatre Nurses.

Jane adds: My role is extremely varied and busy with no two days being the same. I am lucky to work with so many talented consultants.
