Surgeon Mr David Oliver MB ChB, FRCS (Eng), F RCS (Plast) |
Mr Oliver was educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School before graduating from Birmingham University Medical School in 1991. He undertook surgical training in Plymouth and Exeter before passing the Royal College of Surgeons Clinical Surgery-in-General examination and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1996: FRCS (Eng) He then began training in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, before commencing higher specialist training in Plastic Surgery in the Oxford Deanery. He passed the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination Plastic Surgery in 1993 and was awarded Ian McGregor Medal for distinction in the examination.
In 2004 he undertook a 12 month fellowship in Perth, Western Australia and on returning to the UK he trained as the Aesthetic Fellowship at the McIndoe Surgical Centre in East Grinstead. This included all aspects of cosmetic surgery including eyelid facial and breast procedures. He gained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training, (CCST) and was entered onto the General Medical Council’s, (GMC’s), Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in April 2005. Mr Oliver was appointed as a Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in June 2005. He has NHS clinics at Torbay Hospital and Musgove Park Hospital, Taunton with special interests in breast reconstruction and skin cancer surgery including sentinel lymph node biopsy. He is a member of the South West Public Health Observatory and the Peninsula Skin Cancer Services Network.
He has published numerous articles in the field of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery and has presented papers to the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
